The most frequented ferry route to the Isle of Wight is Portsmouth Harbour to the ferry terminal at Fishbourne taking 45 minutes with capacity for vehicles and foot passengers run by Wightlink. The Wightlink crossing between Lymington and Yarmouth is slightly quicker at 40 minutes. When travelling by car Wightlink requests that you arrive to checkin at the ferry terminal between 1 hour and 30 minutes before your scheduled departure.
Faster ferry crosses are available for foot passengers. The journey from Portsmouth Harbour to Ryde Pier Head takes just 22 minutes when riding aboard Wightlink's FastCat catamarans. Red Funnel also provide a FastCat ferry service between Southampton and Cowes taking just 30 minutes.
By far the fastest way to the Isle of Wight is by hovercraft curtesy of Hover Travel taking just 10 minutes to take you from the Southsea hovercraft terminal in Portsmouth to Ryde on the Island.
